Commercial Shoot - Recently there has been some enquiries on commercial photography and we thought of loading this up quickly since we havent put this up on our site yet. Here at johnfick we don't label ourselves to a particular sector in photography because we simply love everything about photography and it what makes us tick.....creatively. The challenges that comes our way makes us love photography even more:) |

RJ AND AIZA - One of the great things about team johnfick is that we get most of our
clients through word of mouth. We are deeply honoured to be recommended
by our loyal clients, family and friends.
Rj and Aiza are one of those clients who seek the creativity above the
conventional way of photography, in which johnfick is known for. We are
very pleased to be trusted because of the quality of the work we do and
we look forward to their special day. |

There were no words to describe the most wonderful day of Janvier and
Leah. However, it was certainly a fun-filled, joyful experience to
witness and capture their union. The guests were all “hyper-active” and
behaved as though they were all on “happy drugs” and it was very
contagious. I was very privileged to be part of it.
A 12-hour wedding shoot is somewhat exhausting but if you have a couple
like Janvier and Leah, you just can’t get enough of them! Thank you Mr.
and Mrs. Miranda! You have made my job so much easier and all worth it.
Congratulations! |

Tom and Rene – Engagement Night Shots
We had the opportunity to take these lovely engagement shots at Luna Park and around the beautiful, dramatic streets of Sydney with Tom and Rene. They were such a sweet, fun, loving, easy-going couple with full of energy.
We love what we do at johnfick photography, where we are always challenged to capture moments to project the couples’ love for each other, wherever it may be. The following samples had a degree of difficulty as the couple preferred night shots. But we thrive on these challenges and we certainly delivered even better than their expectations.
We look forward to their union this coming Saturday and spend more time capturing snippets of their love in their most important day! |

I had a great opportunity to conduct my second Photography Workshop in the weekend. For a long time, friends and other photographers asked if I could share my passion and the tools of the trade. So, in response to them, I decided to conduct this creative photography workshop and share to them what photography really is all about. The workshop consists of the basic fundamentals on studio photography as well as photography using available light and down into the ‘nitty-gritty’ parts and especially hands-on experience.
A BIG THANK YOU to EVERYONE who participated in any way - in both of the Photography Workshops I conducted. Thank you for allowing me to share all the things I have learned from years of experience and for all your assistance, patience, creativity, openness and willingness. We have not only learned new skills but also gained lasting friendships to share our passion for Photography.
I’m looking forward to conduct another one sometime early September. I am certain that it would be another great day!
Here are some of the sample shots I did to simply demonstrate how to create beautiful images…Enjoy! |

George and Antonella was such a gentle, laid-back, easy-going couple that during the wedding shoot, I was allowed to work generously without being restricted. They were a very nice to work with, which permitted me to be more creative, achieving elegance and class. |

It was ‘love-at-first-sight’ when one day we found an “oh-so-sweet, gentle, wide puppy eyed, with shiny jet-black coat, beautiful natured” Labrador at our local Pet Store when Pam and I were walking around two years ago. We couldn’t take our eyes off of him and we decided on the spot that we had to have him. His birth certificate was given, all his papers signed, all the documents were exchanged and then we named him Bono (yes, we are U2 fans!)… “Bono Picart – Fick”. We just knew that name fit him well....hahaha
Bono was puppy schooled and spoilt, but not a brat, just loved! He is such a gentle dog that when he was introduced to two of Pam’s other Maltese Terriers (Coco and Alfie), he submitted himself to them completely and would just follow them around (even if he was triple their size!)
However, left alone at times, we felt for Bono and decided to add another one. Hence, Darla! Darla, named after watching “Little Rascals”, is our princess – she is beautiful, brown and bossy! In an instant, Bono and Darla has now become Best-Friends-Forever… Our home is blessed with their presence. |

Our Engagement Shoot with David and Stephanie was exclusive. They were quite a shy couple that my approach with them was just to capture their moments as truthful as I could.
Fortunately images don’t lie. To our advantage, their shyness reflected a charming close personal relationship and the sense of honesty and vulnerability in their photos. They simply mirrored their love for each other and it just ‘flowed freely’.
We look forward to their wedding day and capture more of these intimate moments. |

I love the challenge of shooting different assignments and projects and then giving it my own ‘twist’. They make my world much more interesting. I want to share with you this particular shot, in which my wife, Pam did the make up for :). I’ve given it that silver metallic look.
Whenever I show this image to my peers and colleagues, they find it very stimulating and almost ‘comic-like.’ Pam calls it our version of the ‘Watchmen’ or even ‘Hero’. How about you? What is your interpretation as you look into this image? |

The pre-wed shoot with Jonathan and Annika was so interesting. We reached the garden setting we wanted for the photos but unfortunately they had closed the park early for some reason. So we had to think quickly…
I was challenged to look around the area and appreciate what was in front of me. Fortunately, in spite of the situation, Jonathan and Annika trusted me fully and were ‘game’ to allow me to be creative outside of the garden.
We certainly ended up having more fun, capturing moments in alleyways, rustic walls, and cratered and puddled pathways. The surroundings were rich with texture and character, like the couple! These shots certainly suited their individual traits and their distinctive and noticeable appreciation and gratefulness with anything that is put before them.
We wish you the very best and we know that you will certainly have a great time together! |

DJ C-Bu
Sydney's finest...DJ C-BU! He is in demand to play on main sets of hundreds of clubbers in Sydney and across Australia!
I had a quick but ‘sweet’ shoot with this talented individual. DJ C-BU presented himself as someone who was unpredictable and always had a ‘bag full of new tricks’, mixing tracks with his smooth sounds, giving the taste of his creativity and originality. He reinvents himself and he steps up his game every time he gets into the club scene. He has the knack to grab everyone's taste for club electro tracks.
So, let us present to you…Sydney's pride...DJ C-BU!
...From us at johnfick photography…all the very best! :) |

We cannot tell you how much fun we had while photographing Baby Mia! Mia’s parents, Mervin and Rhia, Pam and I had our year’s work out laughing our heads off as we entertained her whilst she also entertained us. She is full of character and so confident and very expressionistic! She moves and dances well like her dad, she is smart and sensitive like her mum. I almost ran out of memory taking photos of her as her facial expressions would change as quick as a flash.
Upon sorting these photos, Pam and I would just ‘crack up’ at every frame. It was hard to choose which ones to use for her 1st Birthday celebration with the theme “Winter One-derland”. Thus, I picked a few and not just one for the final frame. This included her different facial expressions to show her big personality.
Mia is such a joy and a blessing to all those that meet her and see her! We wish her and her loving parents all the very best and may she grow up always loved by all like she is now. We cannot wait to have our very own too… |

Early in the year, I was given the opportunity to work on a commercial fashion shoot for a high-end swimwear brand "Rebecca". Whilst we cannot show the finished product, due to copyright reasons, we wanted to do test shots for the make up on Adriana, the model featured. |

Australian Idol Finalist, Barry Southgate, humbled us with his talent and the opportunity to share with him our love for music. My wife, Pam and I saw and heard him during the Closing Ceremony and Holy Mass for the World Youth Day here in Sydney, singing along with Guy Sebastian and Paulini (certainly another story and a grand experience all together). Their performance excuded both the strength, vulnerability and faith of everyone present during that time. I guess this is the same vibe I wanted to achieve in this photography session. Well, at least, a fragment of it. The 'hope' he stands for and brings to his listeners, the honesty and sincerity in his music. Plus, melancholy feel to his rhythm and blues style.
To some, Barry may have been known as an Australian Idol Finalist, but to us his music now is more than that. He is a true music composer with a great heart and personality. Indeed an artist to look forward to. |

Janvier and Leah are one of those couples I had a pleasure taking photos of. They were absolutely so fun to be with! Their energy was so contageous which made the engagement shoot even more wonderful.
I love the honesty of the images as they show a natural affection to one other. Capturing these makes me even fall in-love more with my wife, Pam:). They are truly in love with each other and I can't wait to cover their wedding in a few weeks time. So, to Janvier and Leah, may Love be with you! And Janvier, after your wedding, for your Japan honeymoon, YOU DESERVE A NEW SLR CAMERA!!! hahaha. God bless you both:) |

As I was going through my files, I came across the first wedding I shot this year. These are from Renee and
Long’s special day and I thought that it would be nice to share some images with you. These photographs are
definitely something I am proud of.
One of the things I give my client is a ‘Photographer's Choice’ image. I give them a photograph of my choice
that I have transformed into an art piece, which they can hang on the wall of their home. These are images
that are ideal to show to their families and friends, and it's something that the couple can also be very proud
of. I select photographs that I think represent and illustrate an exceptional part of the day for me
combined with harmonized design elements and sometimes-unusual juxtapositions. We love the cute and cuddly
flower girls! The horizontal lines of the cladding façade direct your eyes to the flower girls who exuberate
innocence, loveliness and cuteness! (We just wanted to take them home :) … oh, not to mention the plant
growing from the ground … So many meanings can come through a photograph, let’s just leave it to your
imagination.
It really was a beautiful, easy going and fun-filled wedding day. A great start for 2009 Weddings. To Renee
and Long, all the very best! :) |

Music is a part of me. I used to have my own band back in the Philippines. We were into the
grunge, alternative style. I have to say, that those were the best days of my teenage life.
I have high respect to all musicians for their sacrifices and the perseverance they display with trying to
make it to the industry mainstream.
I have completed some projects with musicians from around Sydney. Their music genres vary from rock to jazz to R&B and ballads. In this session I had another
opportunity to photograph one of Sydney's rising musician, Dean Haitani, in his niche. Dean is the 'other half' of a
very good friend of ours, Marie Ramos whom I respect a lot as a photographer too. It was such an honour for
her to ask me to do a session of her boyfriend.
So, watch out for this guy for his cool music that projects a sense of rawness and honest tunes. |

We had a request from our couple client – Todd and Jess, if it was possible to do a session with their two
beagle dogs. Without hesitation, we said ‘yes’! We were all very excited! The morning went so fast as we
went around the park while the dogs sniffed around and took photos of special moments with the foursome. At
times, it was as though the dogs dictated the path! It was fun to watch and capture!
Pam and I are also dog lovers. In fact, we have two adorable Labradors, a beautiful chocolate brown (named ‘Darla’ – the boss) and a gorgeous black one (named ‘Bono’ – the gentle :). We related so much with Todd and
Jess as they showed their affection to one another and to their dogs. It was so sweet and quite intimate
also to share their engagement shoot with their cute little ones:) |

One of the remarkable things about our photography is how we get to meet different kinds of people and follow their own “journey”. Lorelie is one of our models, who not only became a friend but also loyal client. We have been updating her portfolio for three years now and recently, Modelling Agencies around Sydney are beginning to notice the potential in this lovely young girl who is turning into a stunning model.
Lorelie, keep it up and all the best in your future career! We are proud to be part of it. |

It’s great to get to know a couple that is passionate about their lives, careers, families and love. I was so inspired by the story of Linh and Zarah. Both excelled in everything they did and their relationship evolved into something even better. Yet, they are so “down to earth” and spirited. Linh and Zarah were both shy when we first met them. However, their shyness projected a ‘hidden message’ – that is, their vulnerability towards each other, in which was projected onto these shots. Their photos became as honest and as real as they could be.
Photography indeed is not just taking photos and being creative, and not even just for the love of it. Photography is also about the people, the ‘hidden messages’ we learn from others in knowing them and by being inspired by them. |

To me, one of the great things about a wedding is that it is an art form in itself. If you have the trust of the bride, your artistic touch will flow so easily.
I had a great opportunity to capture these beautiful images in such a stunning location. I follow the simple rule of thumb, that is, to expand my subject along with what the surroundings can offer. Brent and Fluer are truly made for each other. It was such a beautiful wedding :)' |
